Ross bids to be a European Hero!
9/01/2012
Watts Truck and Van (Cardiff) are pleased to announce that Ross Humphries has passed the Master Technician practical test with very high scores. As Ross was one of the top scoring technicians in the whole of the programme he has been invited back to Thame on 13th January for a ‘test’ day. Ross will then undertake a series of tests in an attempt to represent the UK in the European Hero Final.
The Technician who achieves the best result from the test day will be taken to Eindhoven where he will participate in a series of theory and practical tests to decide who will become the first European Technical of the Year.
Since the introduction of the DAF Hero Distance Learning Programme for technicians in 2005 a number of other countries have introduced and run similar programmes. As a result of this a European Hero final has been scheduled for 14th February 2012 in Eindhoven.
The last Hero programme in the UK was in 2008 and it was decided that the UK representative should be selected from Technicians at Master Technician level. Currently there are 80 Master Technicians and potentially 100 by year end. The top scoring technicians were identified by analysing the individual results from each of the three evaluation stages of the Master Technician programme.
Over the 3 years of his Apprenticeship Ross has been put forward for the finals each year, and achieved 2nd place in his first year, 3rd place in his second year and came first in his third year!
We hope you will join us in wishing Ross the very best of luck on 13th January!
